Misty is a low-chill Southern Highbush blueberry for mild-winter regions. Vigorous, upright plants bear light-blue berries with good firmness and a good picking scar in the early season.
Misty Blueberry Highlights
- Blueberry type: Southern Highbush
- Harvest: Early season; bloom and harvest timing vary by climate.
- Fruit: Light blue, firm, with a good picking scar and good flavor.
- Plant habit: Vigorous and upright, typically about 4–6 feet with pruning.
- Climate fit: Listed for USDA Zones 5–10 with a 100–300-hour chill range.
- Plant: Supplied as one plant in the seasonal dormant-plant program.
Pollination
Plant Misty near another Southern Highbush cultivar with overlapping bloom for improved fruit set and berry size. Biloxi is a recommended companion with similar early bloom and ripening.
Planting and Care
Choose full sun and acidic, well-drained soil, ideally around pH 4.5–5.5. Keep the shallow root zone evenly moist and mulched. Early bloom can increase exposure to late frost, so choose a protected site where spring freezes are common.
